«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 214 Newer› Newest»favorite morning ritual: wake 2 hours before having to leave house, bake gluten free muffins, blend up a smoothie and then meditate outside amongst the birds, smells of fresh morning dew and the increasingly warm sun. i like to check the blogs before heading out, after a hot shower.
kate, holland, pa
hmm i would have to say brewing up a really perfect cup of Earl Grey tea and sitting either on the back porch (during the spring and summer) or by a nice window and taking it slow before my day gets all hectic!
lizzie, los angeles/new york
I love this blog!! :0)
**Favorite morning ritual:
wake up, drink lots of water, drink a protein shake, do yoga, eat banana-nut butter oatmeal, go to classes, go to personal training and dance, come home to do some homework, and then relax! :0)
Liz, Ohio
now matter what, one thing is always the same: three cups of coffee with cream and sugar.
Rachel, kansas city, ks
I wake up, light some candles, put on a record, and do 50 sit-ups.
Thanks for your wonderful blog!
Brad
Austin, TX
The reason that I love your blog is because I can see a really yummy breakfast while I check blogs in the morning while I drink a cup of coffee and eat a bowl of dry cheerios (honey nut). (oh and that is my favorite morning ritual.

coburg, oregon
Favorite Morning Ritual: A fresh-brewed pot of Irish Breakfast tea, with a toasted english muffin or crumpet and some good music playing in the background.
Love your blog!
I'm a cereal girl. Usually homemade granola, though in the winter I love oatmeal porridge.
In a more ideal world, I would sit and read while I eat, but in reality I tend to check email. I love breakfast and I love mornings!
Laura<><
Manitoulin Island
my name is eli, i live in brooklyn, and my favorite breakfast is pumpernickel toast with butter and jam, medium-soft boiled eggs, and pressed coffee.
two cups of black coffee in my pjs. :)

getting up a bit before the kids and drinking a cup of coffee. in a perfect world a fresh croissant would accompany this each and every morning.
kate o.

o no! i didn't understand! i left a response for last year.
here's my answer for this year:
my favorite morning ritual is drinking my coffee and eating my eggs & toast while looking out the window, watching the trains go by.
oh, my morning ritual if not interrupted by three children would go like this: brew coffee, fry hash browns, fry a perfect over easy egg in the cast iron skillet and enjoy it all in silence with toast and marmalade. What happens is more like: hold baby while attempting to brew coffee and scramble eggs for everyone. The toast and marmalade are the only constants, but they are tasty :)
I love your breakfast... a moment of adultness as I pop cereal into se7en bowls! My favorite morning moment is waking an hour before anyone else and pushing the button on the coffee machine - hearing the beans grind and the coffee hisss into the mug, hmmm. I don't even have to open my eyes!
From se7en in Cape Town.
The best part of my morning: scooping out the last bit of oatmeal from the saucepan (with a spatula, of course, so I can get every last oat).
I'm Rose from Washington, DC.
Wake up, feed the cat, and put the kettle on for my first perfect cup of tea!! Turn on the comp and start making whatever breakfast takes my fancy or that i've planned for ;)
Open all the window blinds, brew two cups of coffee, and sit and read in my rocking chair, admiring morning light.
Jenni Simmons
Houston, TX
A big bowl of oatmeal with a chopped banana and splash of milk. And of course, a big cup of coffee,
My favorite morning ritual is:
No one's up.
Corner of my sectional.
Big mug of steaming coffee with lots of sugar and nonfat milk.
Bible and notebook opened.
Love it!
Carrie
Gilbert, AZ
Mindy
Philomath, OR
Cup of coffee with cream and splenda. Check google reader then breakfast which is usually a Denver omelet. Thanks for a wonderful blog.
Get on the treadmill first thing. Shower, dress, then have some granola or oatmeal with honey and green tea while reading the paper.
- Laura from Redmond, WA
Sitting on my comfy couch with a cup of tea, looking out at the city, that'd be Portland, OR.
my morning ritual:
the moment i open my eyes, I look out the window beside my bed and see how the weather looks like. When its gloomy, I lie back and nap 15 minutes more... when its sunny, I shoot right up, head for the kitchen and brew myself some strong coffee. I then turn on the TV, tune it to my favorite morning news channel, make myself either a peanut butter or cheese& mayo on wheat bread sandwich, sit for a while; and dash off to the bathroom after realizing that I would have to rush to work in 10 minutes... oh well, my morning "me-time" is all worth it ;)
oh... i'm from the Philippines by the way. And I check out your blog regularly. Fabulous photos!
I love a hot shower, a pebbly shower mat under my feet, nice-smelling body scrub, and a fluffy towel.
I love a HOT mug of Assam-blend tea, with a little skim milk, a warm bun with a smear of salted butter, and a Royal Gala apple.
Oops! I forgot the who and where part!
I'm Katy, and I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!!
My favorite part of the morning is getting into work 30-45 min before everyone else and eating breakfast with a cup of coffee, catching up on my Google Reader feeds. So quiet and calm without anyone there.

Seattlites appreciate the sunshine more than most. I love the rainy weather of the Northwest, but it makes sunny days seem even more beautiful. My favorite morning ritual is during the Spring, when I wake up early and watch the sun rise over the Cascade Mountains. I sit on a stone wall, a cup of tea in hand and wait until the very first light pierces over the mountains, it never ceases to take my breath away.
black tea with milk--in bed in the "morning darkness" before hitting the shower. courtney, orange county
I like to shower before the sun comes up. It helps me wake up slowly.

Morning ritual: Feed the kitten, then make espresso on the stove while heating up a ready-made broodje in the toaster oven. When the coffee is ready I put tahini, a slice of cheese, and some sliced tomatoes on the broodje, eat quietly in the glow of my Christmas lights while reading in the Bible. Just a mug of tea while I pick up the toys my son left all around the house before his father takes him to daycare. Then, a real breakfast : tea again (from Mariage Frères), cake, biscuits, muffins… whatever I can find in the cupboard.
Actually, I'd love to cook myself a real, healthy, salty, fruity breakfast… but I'm lazy !

Absolute fave morning ritual: steaming latte made from Starbucks' coffee beans and non-fat milk, sunny-side up egg on ham and whole wheat toast, and a blueberry yogurt smoothie with People.com and the BBC.
At the moment here is my morning ritual:

Have a nice breakfast by the window, with my cat: green tea with fresh ginger, lemon and honey; fresh orange juice; yogurt with sugar; cereal bread with salted butter and honey...

The most common way for me to spend my mornings is: stay in bed too late. Finally rushing up. Doing everything on the same time. Grabbing a sandwich on the run if I can get anything down at all.
My favourite mornings: Getting up at nine, brew a cup of herbal tea and make a really fancy sandwich. Sit down and enjoy together with today's newspaper.

I sometimes have pitta bread and humous at home or date and banana porridge at the office. On holiday in Sri Lanka I always have dhal (lentil curry) with a toasted baguette or a simple cheese toast. Yum.

My favorite breakfast is buttered toast, but I don't eat it very often. Every once in a while, on a Sunday, I'll wake up and make coffee and toast. Then I'll sit and relax and read food blogs!
Holly, New Hampshire
My favourite morning ritual depends on whether I'm alone or with the boyfriend/friends. When I'm alone I love scrambled eggs with chives, freshly brewed coffee (both the smell and the taste!) and a piece of toast, and the papers (both the smell and the content!). When I'm with others I love making big batches of pancakes or scones for them, copious amounts of coffee and tea and good morning conversation :)
Oh, and I'm a Norwegian currently living in Cambridge, UK :)

My favorit morning ritual is getting up before everyone else and having some quite time with my kitties, my coffee, a toasted english muffin and the newspaper.

My favourite morning ritual is sit cuddled up in a blanket, with a cup of ginger chai in my hands, a newspaper on my lap, the smell of some traditional breakfast baking by my mom wafting all around. And maybe some waffles on the side.

Hmm, I love to ponder the day for a few moments while still in bed, read and do some pilates, brew coffee and hot tea for my and my husband, cook up some breakfi, take some photos and then take a long walk up to Griffith Park.
Have a lovely day!

A very hot coffee, coiled in the chesterfield of the living room, fair in the light of the morning.

I only get to do it about once or twice a week, but I love waking early, while the boy and the dog are still in bed, making a pot of coffee, and them writing short stories on my laptop while the sun comes up. Then the boy and I take the dog for a 30 minute walk and finally, we eat breakfast. Cereal and soymilk during the week. Vegan blueberry pancakes on the weekend.
Mornings are my favorite!
Chrissy, Nacogdoches, Texas
morning ritual: 4 shots of expresso chaos with the 3 kids getting them off and then doing my daily blog with yet another cup of coffee....and reading wonderful blogs like yours daily. What a great start to the day-Don't you think?
My rituals have changed so much over the years, from plugging in the coffee for my parents and eating leftover garlic bread for breakfast to eating on the run during college and after graduation working at a bakery through massage therapy school where I would OD on coffee and cream cheese scones.
I used to get up in the morning and have coffee or tea and a tiny little breakfast, if any. Now that I'm a mommy, I prepare my daughter's breakfast before my own and cherish each bite.
Jennifer, Northern Kentucky
Every morning I bring my laptop down to the kitchen table, and drink many cups of black tea with honey and two pieces of toasted 7-grain bread with cream cheese and raspberry jam, while checking my email and my blogroll.
Thanks for all of your breakfast inspiration!
Favorite morning ritual:
I love to rise early enough to not feel rushed. I love to sink into my couch by a big window with my journal, a mug of coffee, and a bowl of yogurt, fresh fruit, and home-made granola and just soak up the new day.

My usual and favorite morning ritual: wake up at 4 a.m., exercise (usually walking/swimming), watch cheesy 1980's tv on DVD while eating eggs (any which way, I heart eggs, big time) with some crunchy gluten-free toast. (Sometimes, on the weekends I swap in some gluten free cottage cheese pancakes with blueberries.)
It really centers me.

ONE ritual is not enough...
To start a new day with a smile on my face, I need to hold my man, pet my cat and keep him in my arms when I prépare my tea, and shower.
Necessary but long ritual...

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love Sundays when I can sit down with the paper and stretch breakfast time out for hours. There's always coffee, sometimes a scone from down the street, other times toast with peanut butter and honey, and when I'm really lucky my boyfriend will make something especially delicious. Love, love, love your blog. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures with us.
Jen, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Favorite morning ritual rarely happens anymore, but it is morning brunch with my best girlfriends (who reside in brooklyn and geneva). Lots of coffee, huevos rancheros, biscuits - whatever we eat, the best part is the conversation.
Holly, Richmond, VA
My fav weekend morning ritual is a latte and a scone with a newspaper at a local coffee shop, preferably with someone I love.

As boring as it is, I really enjoy my mug of coffee in the morning. It has to be HOT but not necessarily caffeinated. Sometimes, it's just a coffee alternative or a half-caffeinated blend. So if all goes right, and nobody bugs me and my drink, it's a great morning!
I just love breakfasts and I try to make everyday special and every morning unik by eating different things. Please get inspiration from my blogg

My favorite is the Sunday morning ritual: my boyfriend and I make scrambled eggs, toast and bacon, plus a huge pot of French-pressed coffee for me. We chow down, then get back into bed to watch Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood.

Goodness everyone is far more motivated than I am. My favorite ritual is snuggling in bed until the last possible minute! Of course I don't have kids yet, so I can...
Oh!! I forgot to tell you that having breakfast while reading some magazines is the perfect way to begin the day on weekends.

During the work-week I just race around trying to get ready as quickly as possible so I don't miss my train- not much ritual there.. or at least not a favorite one.. On the weekends though I brew a cup of coffee, spread peanut butter on some toast, and sit in front of the computer reading blogs and enjoying an hour or so of peace and quiet...
Favourite morning ritual:
Unlike a lot of people, I dislike waking up too late, or laying in bed until mid-day. I may sound crazy, but I love waking up (by myself, not the alarm) early, about 7 or 8 in the morning, getting dressed in something that is not sloppy sweaters and grey, formless pants and put on a little bit of skin cream. I am not a very big fan of spending half the day with my breakfast, but I'll enjoy it (a light breakfast; not egg and bacon, but rather pasta from the previous dinner, crackers with cheese and such, fruit, porridge) and read a book or a newspaper while doing it. Then I'll put some outerwear on, and take a long walk. It is still early in the morning, so it is a part of my favourite morning ritual! When I get home, I drink tea, and maybe I make a cake or bake a bread. This is my favourite morning ritual, but I rarely get to do all of the things in one morning, only when I am having a day off, and I am alone in the house. But I would love to do it more often, and you breakfasts really seem calming and sort of timeless; you enjoy it everyday (correct me if I am wrong :)). Have a very nice day!
Johanne, Norway
Hmm...I would have to say that my favourite morning ritual is crawling back into bed, fresh and clean from the shower, for about 5 minutes before I have to rush off to class or work. This occurs, of course, after I've had my breakfast.

My favorite morning ritual is letting my doggie out of his den in the morning and giving in to his insistent pawings for snuggles and neck scratches. I don't think anyone has ever been so happy to see me, every morning, every day! It's sweet. Then I make a cup of tea after I let him out.

During the summer, I have boring breakfasts of a bowl of Kashi Go Lean and skim milk. Maybe some fresh fruit. Come winter, though I really feast! Mugs of hot chocolate and slices of buttered toast slathered in fig preserves. Too bad winter lasts for only a few weeks around here!
My favourite morning ritual is picking up freshly baked bread from a little bakery nearby. I don't go just for the bread, though - it's always interesting to see everyone else queued up, elderly gentlemen with their waistcoats and mothers with little children. The bakery itself is so tiny that you don't go inside, it just has a window through which warm loaves and little buns are passed!

Hello,
Marie from Paris.
At morning, my little "gourmandise" is a big bread with butter and marmelade (stawberry, blackberry, fig, peach, quince...). Orange juice and tea. And sometimes, I prefer country version : bread with "pâté" !
Thanks for your so nice blog !
At the moment my favourite is boiled egg (has to be runny egg)with soldiers - the soldiers have marmite on them too which a lot of people think is wrong!
And a big cup of tea.
Deepa, from Cambridge, UK.
My favorite morning ritual is greeting my dog and having a cup of very good coffee while I check email and blog posts. Then, another cup of coffee and a walk in the garden once there is enough daylight to see. I check on all my plants most mornings and then have a slice of seven grain bread spread with cream cheese and French peach preserves. And your post, of course.
wake up to the sound of my baby playing and chattering in his cot, get up and make up his bottle whilst he plays, feed him curled up on the sofa them make my own breakfast (anything from cheese and bread to mushrooms roasted in the oven) and eat it whilst watching him bounce happily in his chair ;)

I've been reading your blog for a veeery long time and I never found so much sweetness and "light" in any other blog...

Favorite ritual: pour yesterday's coffee into mug and microwave - then grind some Starbucks Colombia whole beans - and brew it. mmm. I read my Bible, drinking my day-old (but good) coffee, then I get a fresh cup of black Colombia coffee. mmmm.
Then I start breakfast for my hubby.
I so enjoy Simply Breakfast. It's made me really LOOK at and enjoy the art of MY breakfast, and lunch and supper. Thank you.
Oh, I'm from Colleyville, Texas (in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex).
Breakfast in Italy ... well, a wonderfully creamy hot capuccino and a freshly baked loaf of whole grain spelt flour bread (found it at a bakery here and it is wonderful...full of spelt grains and seeds of all kinds), slathered with my homemade fruit jams (rigorously made with fructose and apple pectin). Not shabby at all! P
My favourite morning ritual comes during the weekends, when I put on the coffee and pop two homemade pain au chocolate in the oven. Ten minutes later, I carry the tray of coffee and pastries back to bed with the weekend papers and snuggle back up with my boyfriend and the cat.
Weekdays however are a different story, rushed coffee, two breakfasts and one lunch to make, and a yowling cat to feed! Ah, how I long for weekends every day!
Keep up the great blog,
Rebecca, London, UK
Favourite morning ritual: wake up naturally, read for a while, get up and loaf about in my dressing gown, make pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and some coffee.
Normal morning ritual: wake up naturally but wishing I could sleep later, walk downstairs a little bleary eyed, put kettle on to make coffee, pour bowl of cereal/muesli/granola with skimmed milk. Eat ceral and drink coffee while watching BBC breakfast news before having a shower.
Gemma, reading from London
These comments inspire me so much. Honestly, people have such great mornings! When I can, I love to wake up a few hours before I need to be anywhere so I can take all the time I need to lolly-gag around. I'll brew a pot of coffee, eat breakfast, (this depends on what I have) watch the Today show (or just have it on), check my email and blogs, shower, get ready and head out!
but....let's not lie. I'm a design student at college. My USUAL morning routine is to fly out of bed late on 3 hours of sleep, and do homework until class begins. Of course I grab a cup of coffee somewhere as well.....

My husband brings me a cup of coffee to wake me up (I know, I'm spoiled). Then I lay in bed listening to NPR, sipping my coffee and going through magazines, reading or playing handheld electronic yahtzee until the bathroom is available.
Every Sunday morning, my husband watches the kids. He brings me a cafe au lait, which I drink while taking a bath. Sometimes I'll have yogurt with honey, homemade toast with marmalade and perhaps sliced ham, or on very special occasions Alton Brown's recipe for overnight cinnamon rolls.
Sunday is the very best day of the week.
Gretchen in Maryland
Weekday:
Turning on the light in the kitchen and getting the kettle started while dressing: watching the goldfish beg for their breakfast while I make my tea and toast. I only have time for 1 cup of tea so I use my Red Sox mug.
Listening to Morning Edition and watching the sun come up.
Weekend:
Listening to NPR while drinking tea and making breakfast, usually eggs and toast or oatmeal or something like that. On the weekends I make a pot of tea in my blue Beehouse teapot and drink it out of either a Moomintroll mug or a mug with birds on it. Even better is making tea/coffee or food for guests and then making plans while we're all still wearing our slippers.
Neglected to say I live in San Francisco.
looking through the window and imagine the possibilities of a new day. have a devotional looking through a window. preparing a pretty set for breakfast. having pancakes or something with oatmeal.

A perfect morning would always be Sunday's - or its equivalent.
Waking up to sunshine and silence, make the kettle sing for you, stir yogurt into the muesli that's soaked overnight, drizzle honey over it, slice a banana, sprinkle some berries and nuts; then sit down and sigh a deep contented sigh.

Going for a 5-mile run and then rewarding myself with a cup of coffee and hot breakfast.
I'm a student in Seattle, WA but my family lives in Portland, OR. I love waking up in my Portland home and joining my mother for freshly baked scones or muffins or cinnamon rolls. Lazy conversation over the newest Vogue, Vanity Fair or Gourmet inspires and energizes me for the rest of the day. It's even better during the cold, blue light of a winter morning during the holiday season, when the warmth of the day has yet to be generated...
this is my first time on your blog and i have a feeling i'm hooked and will look through recipes--i am a huge breakfast person so thank you so much for this blog! and you live in brooklyn?...i'm from CT but residing in Philly going to school!
I am awakened by a bouncy toddler every morning which, at times can be quite sweet and cuddly and great. But let me reiterate the every. morning. part.
Every once in awhile, I get to have a relaxed morning alone when I can lie in bed for a while and read all these lovely blogs and enjoy a cup of coffee from start to finish while its still hot.
Its not a routine, but when it happens it is divine.

Hi Jen
Always love to look at your breakfast table. I will make a quick note about your blog next sunday.
As far as I am concerned, my breakfast is different everyday. In France, I adore having a piece of fresh Baguette with salted butter and jam. I live now in Germany and I have discovered the perfect Bircher Müsli...

most mornings i wake to dappled sunlight across my bed
but my favourite days are the rainy kind that make you wish you could lie in bed all day!
i wake at 6.30am
and my favourite morning ritual involves the careful and methodical making of the perfect cup of coffee:
milky and strong!
there's always toast -
sometimes with vegemite
(reminds me of my childhood)
sometimes with lashings of thickly applied peanut butter.
this is the calm before the storm - the dreaded school run!

Hi Jen,
I'm Ozge, reading from Turkey. I'm a big breakfast and morning fan. I don't actually run into many people like myself, so it's great to be able to follow you at least. I wake up really early in the morning, while it's still dark and spend some time in the bathroom, just thinking, planning the breakfast, and washing my face with warm water in the cold morning, taking my time. It feels so refreshing just drying my face with the towel and feel my skin get kinda cool. Then I get into the kitchen, put some water on the stove for tea and prepare some sort of hot cereal. Just waiting impatiently over the cooker, stirring, tasting a little every now and then, scraping the remaining bits of oats from the pan... Then I carry my breakfast to my room, put on the radio and eat watching the mug and the hot bowl steam... Oh god, sometimes it seems that's all I'm living for...
Favorite morning ritual: Get daughter to school and son to morning nap. THEN- drink black tea leisurely with some toast and avocado, or bagel and leftover tofu scramble, read from a wonderful new book picked up at the library, or just sit and think and write. Thanks for your breakfast blog- peace-

Waking up, putting on a morning gown still half asleep, wandering out to the kitchen to put two slices of bread in the toaster and boiling water for my coffee. the smell of toasted bread and coffee in the morning is divine.

My favorite morning ritual is my 'second' breakfast, which I have at around ten thirty a.m. It consists of something like a cup of tea or a fruit infusion and something extravagant (yesterday some roast chestnuts). For my 'first' breakfast I usually have milk, toast, cereals and fruit. I am now preparing today's second breakfast as I post!
a cup of cofee and 2 "tartines de confiture"

This is a morning ritual that only happens a few times a year, but it's still my favorite. Every time I visit my parents, we generally end up taking some sort of driving trip to see family. We wake up early (well, 6 or 7 AM, which I still consider early) and clomp around the house, packing up the car.
Then, packed in the car, we drive three blocks to the Washtenaw Dairy. There we get a half a dozen donuts and some black coffee, and we're on our way! I don't know why, but this is always a satisfying thing to do.

I am a creature of morning routine. Wake up at 5:30. Get dressed. Make a big pot of coffee in the Chemex. Pour a glass of water. Feed the cats. Make breakfast (most of the time this means poaching one egg and putting it on top of toast or leftovers). Eat, drink large amounts of coffee and water and study or read until I leave at 7:30. Oh and all the while my tiny gray cat is sitting on my lap. I love mornings. I love looking at other people's breakfast too. :)

Have a blueberry soy yogurt with banana slices and a cup of Earl Grey. If I have the time I like to read a decorating magazine during breakfast but I am normally in a rush...

My favourite: bread with butter and honey strew with cinnamon, coffe and orange juice
My favorite: Hot coffee, khaki colored with milk, two pieces of very thin wheat toast with natural peanut butter, and a banana. The door is open so I can hear the ocean, the dog is outside, the sun usually shines through the skylights.

breakfast with my husband when we are on holiday or at the weekend... we can be eating anything as long as we're together and there is a big cup of hot creamy steamy coffee involved
Wake up, drink water, go to gym, get a hot shower, have a glass of orange juice with my breakfast. Then brew my coffee and enjoy it while reading my feeds.

The minute we hit the kitchen my daughter is ready for breakfast. I make hers first, then race to get mine ready before she's done so we can sit and eat together. It is a beautiful moment and a luxury to share breakfast every day with my baby girl.

Being the first one awake in my house, listening to the quiet while brewing a pot of coffee, and then turning on NPR while drinking my first cup and getting ready for the day...
waking up before sunrise, brewing a delicious cup of tea, and watering my garden with a mug in hand.

I wake around 8am and have a mug of earl grey rooibos tea in bed while i write my Morning Pages (a la Julia Cameron - always three pages written longhand). I then shower and dress in something cosy for working at home. Breakfast is either cereal (Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and organic soya milk) or fried eggs on wholegrain toast with lots of black pepper, eaten at my desk while i check emails.

My favorite morning ritual is waking up late, hot coffee with cold skim milk, and my husband's famous oat scones with my homemade preserves from the summer before. Pajamas all morning, the baby in a happy mood, the dog snuggling with us on the couch. Perfection.

I like to wake up before anyone else ( a challenge with 3 small kids) and while enjoying the quiet house, and a good cup of hot coffee (another challenge with 3 small kids) I make breakfast. Usually there are some muffins of some sort baking because fresh hot muffins for breakfast are one of my most favorite pleasures. Also, I like to make a fruit salad of whatever fresh, ripe fruit I have on hand from the farmers market. Sometimes it's just oranges and bananas, but it could also be strawberries, melon and peaches. Just as long as it is sweet and delicious.
Once everyone is awake, we sit at the table together and enjoy a long breakfast together. I make more coffee, and the kids have tea with sugar and milk. It's nice and calm and one of my favorite events in life.

Two cups of good black tea - Barry's, Yorkshire Gold or Tetley all fine - and some really good Acme toast with my friend's plum jam made from his organic plum tree in their backyard. Also fresh fruit in season and a good book to read. No noise except birds or rain outside.

i would say my favorite morning ritual is sunday breakfasts with my husband, some common dishes: buckwheat cakes with ohio pile fixings / buttermilk pancakes with pecan, banana maple syrup / eggs benedict...and always lots of coffee.

Morning is my favorite time of day. I wake up before anyone else in my house so it's quiet while I read blogs and eat my breakfast. Then I'm fully awake and energized, and able to greet my waking family with a smile on my face.
Josie from the U.S.
up early enough for a run/yoga/other workout. preferably outdoors.
as for breakfast...
always:
coffee with steamed milk.
variants:
toasted sesame Ezekiel bread with modest smear of avocado, sprinkled with salt, pepper, and a bit of lime juice.
two poached eggs, alongside some Greek yogurt with crushed strawberries.
or, for ultimate caloric decadence, the "Nick Marshall Special"--onion or everything bagel with cream cheese, sliced tomatoes, and capers. (smoked salmon a welcome addition!)
[however, as a student, my morning usually goes: stumble out of bed, shower while half-asleep, down fizzy Emer'gen-C cocktail to avoid college germs, grab artificial-ingredient-ridden yogurt and gritty coffee from the cafeteria, dash to class and arrive having spilled the coffee on shirt/papers/books/all. *and i love this one, too.*]
jog, papers, big coffee, fruit, toast, shower! in this order.

my favorite ritual is weekend breakfast when my hunsband is home & cooks us THE BEST honey wheat pancakes ever with peanut butter and syrup with some orange juice. then we all sit around the table and laugh..... or we go out to eat at our favorite geasy spoon together if we're all out of pancakes.

Morning ritual: now that I'm back in graduate school, none of my days are regular, but I really love working my way through magazines: Orion, The New Yorker, etc. at the breakfast table. Good reading is a good start to the day!
{isabelle - paris }
those days I love brown bread with organic almond past and banana slices on top.

My favorite morning ritual is making a big bowl of oatmeal, loaded with walnuts, raisins, dried cranberries, and maple syrup, and watching the morning news while the rest of the house sleeps. It's easily the most peaceful part of my day.
my favourite morning ritual is opening the blind, lying in bed with my little one whilst she nurses and we watch the sky awaken..sometimes we see rabbits or squirrels or if we're lucky a fox!
singing a loud song in the kitchen.

Every morning I like to drink my coffee and eat my breakfast in front of The Weather Channel. I like to wake up very early and see what the weather is like all around the country. The predictability and assuredness makes it easier to be up at an ungodly hour.
